The Story
Please allow us some ruminations about whether a triangle is the most stable shape in the universe. An informed answer can be found by hitching a ride on tram 25 to Prague’s Troja district.
We are not going there to admire shark teeth at the zoo, though. My Sockfellow colleagues ventured to examine the bridge. Construction engineers laud triangles for their impeccable stability. Of all the -angles, a triangle is the only unslantable one – any change in its angles would have to result in a change of lengths of its sides. If the length of the sides cannot change, the angles, and consequently the entire shape, must remain the same as well. Nowhere is this advantage as obvious as with bridges, heroes who must constantly defy Gravity, the heartless witch.
The tram bridge in Troja was strewn with triangles that held it together impressively for thirty-two years after this originally temporary construction was built.
It would seem that the contemporary successor of that bridge has nothing to do with triangles anymore. But that conclusion would be a bridge too far. Without triangular reinforcements, this much rounder bridge would never stand.
So, is a triangle really, under all circumstances, as impenetrable as the walls of the ancient city of Troy, which gave its name to the district in Prague? Negative. Take, for instance, the story of Menelaus of Sparta, Paris of Troy and Helen of Troy, formerly of Sparta.
This iconic love triangle plays out against the backdrop of sturdy walls and magnificent constructions of wood. All those edifices fell to ashes, though, under the weight of human emotions, which are hardly ever fortified by triangulation. It is our hope, though, that your August will benefit from our triangular contribution.
Material
The Sock is composed, in noble majority, of cotton yarn—eighty-five percent, to be precise. A modest five percent of polyamide hath been added, that the Sock's fortitude may endure the trials of time.
Its framework—its very skeletal essence—is woven of five percent Lycra and five percent polypropylene. Polypropylene provideth the steadfast strength required, whilst Lycra attendeth to elasticity and the noble task of guarding against ill humours through its antibacterial virtue.
With earnest wishes for thy steps to remain ever comfortable
