Bamboo

The Story

Applying ethical judgement to animals and plants could seem naïve, even redundant. However, that doesn’t mean humans do not enjoy doing it. So, let us not lose more time and may the bashing begin. Not losing time is also a hallmark of bamboo growth.

It is the fastest-growing plant in the world, which makes it a very effective invasive species that can disrupt or even destroy diverse ecosystems. True, one could address the same criticism towards humans, but that is no reason why we couldn’t point our metaphorical finger at bamboo, especially if you consider that bamboo blossoms are, diplomatically speaking, not the most aesthetically pleasing.

On the other hand, the stem of these grasses of the Poaceae family enjoys a sturdy build and a great weight-to-hardness ratio. This makes bamboo a versatile building material for many human constructions.

Most importantly, though, bamboo filament is an excellent input material for sock production, especially in the summer. The yarn is very airy and phenomenally good at removing moisture from your feet. I must admit that the more I examine the June sock model, the more my reservations toward bamboo fade. Hopefully, you will concur.

Material

An entire 80 percent of the sock is made up of bamboo viscose and complemented by 5 percent cotton and 5 percent polyamide. Both these ingredients serve to improve resistance against wear and tear. The remaining 10 percent of the socks contain Lycra and polypropylene. The latter ingredient ensures high tensile strength, while the former contributes with greater elasticity and antibacterial protection.

May your June days be light-footed and light-hearted,
